Did Anyone [Other than Me] Watch?

Hi, all. Did anyone else watch the first dem debate last night on MSNBC? If you did, leave a comment and let me know what you thought - or at least weather or not you watched and why. I'm so curious. I'll post my thoughts on the candidates and the debate this weekend.

Roslyn Should Be Famous.

So my friend Shaun has a ton of videos posted on his MySpace page [don't ask what I was doing there] - and one of them was made by a mutual friend of ours, Roslyn Hart - and, presumably, her partner in crime, Nick Chase. Both of these people are really talented and hysterical and they're trying to make a living in NYC doing what they love - comedy. I've seen some of their stuff before, but "Shells" is definitely my favorite character of theirs so far. This looks like the last of Shells' three "video diary" entries called "Shells' Party" - you've gotta check it out. If you like what you see, you can click here to watch the rest of the series: Part 1 - Hey, Shells Here, and Part 2 - Party Prep.

Seriously - how are Roslyn and Nick not on SNL yet?

A. He stayed up all night wondering if there was a dog.

Q. Did you hear the one about the dyslexic atheist who had insomnia?

But seriously folks...I often struggle to justify my belief in G-d and religion. For example, I debated whether to use the dash in that previous sentence and what the point of using the dash was. People who are smarter than me make convincing arguments that religion is all crap and all it does is lead to war and suffering. I see their point, but I'm never convinced. I'm not going to try to make my case here, but I saw this quote today in an interesting article about Einstein and his views on religion and I thought I would share. When asked "Do you believe in G-d?", Albert answered:

“I’m not an atheist. I don’t think I can call myself a pantheist. The problem involved is too vast for our limited minds. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangement of the books but doesn’t know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward G-d. We see the universe marvelously arranged and obeying certain laws but only dimly understand these laws.”

Schmatte Chic. Seriously.

So I apparently missed an article in Slate that's just too good not to post. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Schmatte Chic: The rise - finally! - of Jewish fashion.

Thanks to Ren for bringing this to my attention.

That's Very Funny.

Hey Mike - Heavyweights is on TBS right now. Dave, you saw this with us, right? or have I just edited you into every good memory I have of high school?

For those of you who have never had the pleasure, here are some highlights from IMDB.com:

Tag Line: They don't run the fastest. They don't jump the highest. But they sure are getting the last laugh. Heavyweights. They never met a hot dog they didn't like ... until now.

Plot Outline: Plump kids are lured into joining a posh fat camp with the promise of quick weight loss and good times, only to find that the facility is a woodland hellhole run by a psycho ex-fitness instructor (Ben Stiller).

Capetown Might Need More Attractions.

My parents travel a lot. They've been just about everywhere. I guess when you travel that much you run out of interesting things to see. Here is a chat I just had with my mother:

pzissman: Hi Adam are you there
Adam: hi
how is the trip?
pzissman: We are in Capetown and having a great time. Did you know that the water drains in the sink in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere. Just a bit of trivia
Adam: i did know that...i hope that isn't the most interesting part of your vacation!

This is the Gun Lobby's Best Spokesman?

If Ted Nungent is the face of the gun rights lobby, then I'm pretty comfortable with my position on the issue.

The only thing I like about this commentary is where it is written from. Perfect.

Goodbye-a Sanjaya.

I am sad. My boyfriend, who Adam calls "Stupid Sally Can't-Sing," was just kicked off of American Idol. I know my love is unnatural, but I've already explained myself. Hopefully now I'll return to my old ways and be able to make eye contact with myself in the mirror. Just wanted you to know.

Jack & Ted Right Now.

Giant Jack.

Doesn't Jack look enormous? Keep in mind he's only 9 lbs. and Teddy is now officially 108 lbs. light. Adam took this picture while the two of them watched the snow fall last week. Oh - and also - Jack's definitely been eating Teddy's food while no one's looking. We caught him last night.

From February.

Here's Citizen [Kerry] MacKay and her little baby Fi[ona] at Evening Star. Yes these pictures are about a month and a half old, but I can assure you that Fi is still very tiny and cute. AND, Thatch and Ellie say she plays well with others, which is good.

Really? This Brings May Flowers?

It snowed last night and this morning. Jack and Teddy sat together at the front door and watched. Really, it was just a dusting, but still - this is ridiculous! Maybe it's time to draft Al Gore...
